The Young Ambassador's Guild
If you’ve tried out other Wayside Programs but still want more, the Young Ambassadors’ Guild (YAG) is the place for you! YAG offers youth leadership roles by serving as the advisory group for Education In Action programs. "Yaggers" learn that there’s more to theatre than a great show by exploring the business side of things.
Participants of YAG's "Pimp Your Pumpkin" event outside Wayside Theatre, 2010.
YAG organizes fundraisers and events that fund Wayside administration needs, education scholarships and other theatre goals. To join this energetic and committed group of teens, you must be nominated by a current member. So volunteer today for the next YAG event and get involved.
Yaggers and friends at the Rock Band Contest event in the Curtain Call Cafe, 2010.
One of the main functions of YAG is to hold fundraisers to help support the theatre and the education programs. Below are two annual events, as well as a few past, present and future events.
-
On the Spot (annual) is a night of improv comedy. YAGers team up with Wayside Interns to deliver a night of spontaneous theatre and loud laughs.
-
For the 24-hour Playfest (annual) area youth gather to create brand new plays. They have only 24-hours to write and rehearse their play. With everything there is to get done, sleeping is usually skipped.
-
For Shakespeare in the Park, youth from our programs are teaming up with YAG to present scenes from Shakespeare in Jim Barnett Park (Winchester, VA). They will also have a craft table for the kids.
-
The Rock Band Contest quickly became a favorite event. Teams signed up to play Rock Band in the curtain call café. Prizes were given for points, costumes and stage presence.
-
In Bowl-a-Rama, people pledge money to YAGers based on their bowling game. This event is also a meet-and-greet for new YAGers and a goodbye party for graduating ones.
